Salt Therapy vs. Infrared Sauna in Appleton

Want to make time for your wellbeing, but unsure which session to book? At The Salt Room Appleton, salt therapy and infrared sauna offer two different experiences. This guide helps you compare them, understand the potential benefits, and choose a first visit that fits your preferences.

The quick choice: Choose a salt room session if you want to explore halotherapy in a quiet setting. Choose infrared sauna if you enjoy warmth and want a relaxing heat-based experience. You can start with one session; a membership is optional.

Salt therapy: a quiet space to explore halotherapy

During dry salt therapy, also called halotherapy, a halogenerator disperses microscopic dry salt particles into the room. Settle in with music, reading, meditation, or quiet time during your 45-minute visit.

  • Adult salt session: $40. Choose “Adult Relaxation” in WellnessLiving.

  • Kids salt room session: $25, with books and toys available for quiet play.

  • Five-session passes: $175 for adults or $100 for kids sessions.

Salt rooms may be shared with other guests. If you want to visit with someone, book the same session; contact us with questions about availability or a private-room request.

Infrared sauna: warmth and time to unwind

Infrared sauna uses infrared light to warm your body. It can cause sweating and an increased heart rate at lower air temperatures than a traditional sauna. If you like a warm, quiet break, this may be the experience you prefer.

  • Single sauna appointment: $35.

  • Sauna + guest: $55 total.

  • Five-session sauna pass: $150.

Your appointment is 45 minutes. That is the appointment length, not a recommendation for uninterrupted heat exposure. Ask our team how to pace your time, especially on your first visit, and take a break whenever you need one.

What about the health benefits?

Salt therapy research: A small 2017 trial in 55 children with mild asthma found improvements in airway responsiveness and several quality-of-life measures after 14 sessions over seven weeks. It did not find improvements in standard lung-function tests or an airway-inflammation marker. Larger studies and longer follow-up are needed; the findings do not establish the same results for adults or every condition. Read the pilot study.

Sauna research: Studies have explored potential benefits for blood pressure, heart health, headaches, and arthritis. Mayo Clinic describes encouraging findings but says larger, more precise studies are needed. Some findings involve traditional saunas and cannot automatically be applied to infrared sauna. Read Mayo Clinic’s explanation.

These are wellness experiences, not replacements for medical treatment. If you have a health condition, are pregnant, or are considering a session for a child, discuss suitability with your healthcare professional before booking.
